Artist's Statement

Andy Goldsworthy is an artist. I bet you could have guessed that already, but he is a famous earth artist. Not only the final products of his works are the masterpieces, but usually the product before he is done with it. Much of his art is destroyed moments after he has finished, so the photography of his works is usually the only piece of the project he has left.
While creating my own earth art, I had a lot of fun! At first, I saw a couple of buttercups, and some sticks. I snapped the sticks into four kind of equal pieces, and then made a square around the flowers. Later, I decided to move on from the simple square, and make a sort of star shape. I placed a group of buttercups in the grass, and made that "sort of star shape" out of sticks, twigs and branches. I also laid down in the tall grass, and took photos to show what the world below our feet would look like from the perspective of the ants.
I had lots of fun creating theses works of art, but didn't find anything that unusual. This final product actually didn't come out that far from what I originally expected. I thought that I wound create some kind of pattern with flowers and twigs.
If I were to do this project again, I probably would try and make more different kinds of patterns that wouldn't be that similar to what I did before. I learned that working with nature isn't that easy.
